Every week, I talk to kids about writing and share this powerful message: “Never Give Up”. This blog is dedicated to the teen struggling to fit in and feeling like they don’t matter. This past Christmas, I was reminded how every life matters when I watched the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I didn’t grow up watching the movie. In fact, I didn’t see it until I was an adult going through a difficult time in my life. I was struggling with self-worth and loneliness. Have you ever felt that way? Many of us have at some point in our lives.
When George says he wished he’d never been born, his guardian angel, Clarence, shows him what would have happened. The most powerful part of the movie is when George find the tombstone of his brother, Harry. Clarence tells George that Harry died at the age of nine because George wasn’t there to save him. Harry never went to war so all those men on the transport died because Harry wasn’t there to save them. Then, Clarence explains.
“You see, George, you really had a wonderful life. Don’t you see what a mistake it would be to throw it away?”
None of us know what the future brings, but you can be sure of one thing. Without you, the world changes. You may save someone’s life. You may change a child’s life for the better. You may offer encouragement to someone who needs to hear your unique words. But you’ll never be able to do that if you give up. Did you know that no two snowflakes have the same design? Every year, millions of snowflakes falls to Earth and every single one of them has a unique and individual design. Just like a snowflake, you are created with a unique purpose.
We all have a purpose in this life! If you are struggling with feelings of not being accepted or feeling like no one likes you, and everyone would be better off without you, please look beyond your current circumstances because you will make an impact on this world. You have no idea how your unique life will impact those around you. You have so much to offer and you are loved! You see, you really do have a wonderful life! It may not look wonderful right this second, but someone in this world needs you and the impact you are going to leave!

Very encouraging! I like the snowflake comparison. Just as we each are a child of God, our identity is like a snowflake. We are all different , unique, and important.
